With 40 years of experience as a street photographer and documentary filmmaker, Sandler presents an extraordinary body of work of enigmatic images that are both factual and yet open to multiple interpretations.​

Richard Sandler is a street photographer and documentary filmmaker. His first book, "The Eyes of the City, was published in 2016 by Powerhouse Books. "His photographs are in the permanent collections of the New York Public Library, the Brooklyn Museum, the New York Historical Society, and the Houston Museum of Fine Art.

Sandler has directed and shot eight non-fiction videos and films including- "The Gods of Times Square," "Brave New York" and "Radioactive City." He was awarded two New York Foundation for the Arts fellowships for still photography, a John Simon Guggenheim fellowship for filmmaking, and a New York State Council on the Arts grant for filmmaking.
